Google and Unity (NYSE: U) announced a strategic partnership to develop an integrated gaming platform that includes AI-powered game creation tools requiring no coding experience, according to a press release from Unity.
As part of the partnership, Google has launched an experimental platform called Playground, available now to users aged 18 and older. The platform allows users to generate and customize playable games using natural language prompts.
Later this year, the two companies plan to introduce Unity Spark, a product built on top of Playground that is intended to offer more advanced capabilities, including professional-level mechanics, high-fidelity 3D features, and access to the Unity runtime.
The platform will integrate with Google Play Games, giving users access to leaderboards, multiplayer matchmaking, and community features. Public game creations on Playground will include social elements such as sharing and liking.
Google has said it will highlight creator content across its network to promote games made through the platform.
Unity offers game development tools across mobile, PC, console, and extended reality platforms.
