More than 175 biotechs adopt Veeva Basics for drug development ops

October 7, 2026 7:05 AM EDT

Veeva Systems (NYSE: VEEV) announced that more than 175 emerging biotechnology companies have adopted its Veeva Basics platform, a suite of pre-configured and pre-validated applications covering clinical, regulatory, quality, medical, and commercial functions.

According to the company's press release, biotechs are deploying the applications within weeks, with the platform built to scale as companies grow from startup to commercialization. The applications run on Veeva's Vault Platform.

One feature highlighted in the announcement is Veeva Submissions Publishing Basics, which allows regulatory teams to bring submission publishing in-house rather than relying on outside vendors. The tool is aimed at companies preparing to file their first submissions to the FDA.

Bryan Ball, chief technology operations officer at Whitehawk Therapeutics, said the platform allowed the company, which has fewer than 40 employees, to replace paper-based processes without an internal IT team. "Veeva Basics redefined how we operate, significantly improving processes across regulatory and quality for greater speed and compliance," Ball said.

Darryl Clarke, global head of regulatory operations at Structure Therapeutics (NASDAQ: GPCR), said insourcing submission publishing through the platform produced faster regulatory timelines. "We have modern applications with global support to execute quickly now, and the flexibility to scale in the future," Clarke said.

Jim Thai, vice president of Veeva Basics, said the company has been building a community of customers around the product. "Biotechs are responsible for so much of the innovation shaping the industry and they need technology that reflects the pace that they operate in," Thai said.

Veeva serves more than 1,500 customers across the life sciences sector. The company is scheduled to hold its R&D and Quality Summit on Oct. 20-21 in Boston, open to life sciences industry professionals.
