Universal Safety Products to rename as DeFi Capital Markets on Oct. 19

October 7, 2026 6:31 AM EDT

Universal Safety Products, Inc. (NYSE American: UUU), based in Owings Mills, Md., announced it will change its name to DeFi Capital Markets, Inc., effective October 19, 2026, according to a company press release.

The company's common stock is expected to begin trading on NYSE American under the new ticker symbol "DCM" on the same date. No action is required by existing stockholders, and the CUSIP number will remain unchanged.

The name change accompanies a shift in the company's business focus toward tokenization, digital assets, quantitative trading, and blockchain-based financial markets. The company said it anticipates discontinuing its legacy safety products business as the new initiatives develop.

Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Universal DeFi LLC, the company said it has spent over a year building technology that allows companies and asset owners to tokenize real-world and financial assets for issuance, custody, and trading on blockchain infrastructure. The platform, currently accessible by invitation only, has completed a tokenization project involving silver. Universal DeFi is also currently making markets in three cryptocurrencies using a proprietary account.

The company plans to offer tokenization technology to issuers and asset owners, invest its own capital in digital and tokenized assets, and provide liquidity through proprietary quantitative trading and market making.

The press release cited data from analytics platform Dune indicating that tokenized real-world assets have surpassed $34 billion. It also referenced a Citigroup forecast projecting tokenized assets could reach between $2.7 trillion and $8.2 trillion by 2030, with a base case of $5.5 trillion.
