Silicon Labs (NASDAQ: SLAB) announced a set of developer tools and partnerships at its Works With Summit 2026 conference in Austin, Texas, aimed at simplifying IoT device development and managing artificial intelligence at the edge.
The company's Simplicity AI SDK is now in public beta, offering developers structured access to Silicon Labs SDKs, tools, and documentation. The beta supports AI coding assistants including GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Codex, with initial official support focused on Bluetooth Low Energy workflows.
Silicon Labs also introduced Simplicity Design Intelligence, a set of capabilities intended to translate hardware and software requirements into product configurations. The first feature, called Hardware Intent, uses product requirements, board schematics, and other documentation to guide pin, peripheral, and software configuration. An alpha release of Hardware Intent is planned for January 2027.
Risco Group Co-CEO Limor Alkelai said in a statement that the company has been evaluating the Hardware Intent Agent as an alpha customer and "see its potential in enabling quicker and more robust development."
Silicon Labs is also launching an open-source developer community in beta, beginning with Bluetooth LE. Developers can access sample applications on GitHub and submit issues, fixes, and code contributions that may be incorporated into future SDK releases.
A partnership with Databricks connects Silicon Labs' edge AI and machine learning tools with the Databricks Data + AI platform. An initial MLOps SDK experience allows device data to be captured and fed into Databricks training pipelines, while Silicon Labs' ML Profiler provides feedback on whether a model fits target hardware constraints. Silicon Labs said the initial MLOps tools are available in Databricks now.
"More capable silicon should not create more development complexity," said Manish Kothari, Senior Vice President of Software at Silicon Labs. "We are giving developers and their AI agents a connected path from hardware and software intent through implementation, community contribution, and the complete AI lifecycle."
