ASOS reports unauthorized customer notification linked to security breach
ASOS, the online fashion retailer, confirmed that an unauthorized customer notification was sent to its customers at approximately 10 a.m., following what the company described as unauthorized activity involving third-party platforms used for customer communications.
The company said it took immediate action to restrict access to the affected notification platforms and is working with internal and external specialist advisers, as well as relevant authorities, to investigate the incident.
ASOS stated that basic personal information, including names and contact details, may have been accessed. The company said it does not believe payment card information or account passwords were affected.
According to a statement from the company, its website and app continue to operate normally with no disruption to operations. ASOS noted it holds cyber security insurance, including business continuity coverage, with a large global provider. The company said it is too early to quantify any potential impact on trading.
