Garmin (NYSE: GRMN) unveiled the Approach S72, a golf-focused smartwatch available in 43mm and 47mm sizes, with prices starting at $799.99. The device is available now, according to a company press release.
The watch features an AMOLED display, titanium bezel, sapphire lens and a ComfortFit fabric band. It includes on-wrist swing metrics — covering hand speed, backswing length and wrist rotation — as well as real-time heart rate monitoring during rounds. Garmin describes the Approach S72 as its first golf smartwatch to include a built-in speaker and microphone, enabling phone calls and voice commands.
A green reading feature, available on select courses with an active Garmin Golf membership, displays putt break direction and average slope percentage. The membership also unlocks aerial imagery of holes and putting analytics showing speed bias, direction bias and make rate.
Battery life is rated at up to 20 hours with GPS active and up to 16 days with GPS off, on the larger 47mm model. A built-in flashlight with variable white and red light settings is also included.
Beyond golf, the watch supports fitness tracking features including stress monitoring, sleep tracking and Body Battery energy monitoring. A driving range activity mode allows practice sessions to be logged in the Garmin Connect app toward fitness goals.
Garmin noted the heart rate and health monitoring features are not intended for medical diagnosis or monitoring.
