RBC Capital maintains Outperform rating on Insmed amid CFO change

October 5, 2026 12:21 PM EDT

RBC Capital analyst Leonid Timashev reiterated an Outperform rating and $195.00 price target on Insmed (NASDAQ: INSM) following the company's announcement of a CFO transition set to occur at the end of October earlier this morning.

Insmed shares fell approximately 5% in pre-market trading after the announcement, having closed the prior session at $111.12. The company's press release stated there were no disagreements between the outgoing CFO and the company regarding operations.

Timashev noted the transition timing is scheduled to occur after Insmed's third-quarter 2026 earnings release, currently set for Oct. 29. The analyst estimates U.S. revenue from the company's Brinsupri product at $387 million in the third quarter of 2026, while a recent prescription analysis tracked closer to approximately $379 million.

The analyst acknowledged that some investors may interpret the CFO departure as a signal that a near-term acquisition of Insmed is less likely, noting increased investor discussion of that possibility recently. Timashev referenced prior CFO departures at other companies that were subsequently acquired, citing Karuna Therapeutics and Mirati Therapeutics as examples, both later acquired by Bristol-Myers Squibb.

Insmed reaffirmed its guidance alongside the CFO announcement.
