Quantinuum (NASDAQ: QNT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with The University of Western Australia (UWA) to expand access to quantum computing resources and develop quantum applications across several sectors of Australia's economy, according to a press release dated Oct. 5, 2026.

Under the agreement, UWA-affiliated researchers, students, and entrepreneurs will receive cloud-based access to Quantinuum's quantum computing platform, including its Helios system, which the company claims is the most accurate commercial quantum computer based on two-qubit fidelity as of December 31, 2025.

The collaboration will focus on developing quantum applications in critical minerals, energy, agriculture, and healthcare. The two organizations will also explore establishing a university-wide quantum computing applications center to bring together academic, industry, and government stakeholders.

Quantinuum experts will work with UWA researchers to evaluate use cases, establish technical benchmarks, and assess hybrid workflows integrating quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing. UWA participants will also have access to Quantinuum programs including Q-Net and the Startup Partner Program.

"Together, we're bringing our full suite of capabilities, from world-leading hardware and software to application expertise and ecosystem programs, to develop practical quantum applications and hybrid workflows that will prepare Australia for the quantum era," said Dr. Marvin Lee, Country Leader at Quantinuum.

Professor Jingbo Wang, founder and Director of UWA's Research Centre for Quantum Information, Simulation and Algorithm, said the partnership would create new opportunities for researchers, students, and industry partners while strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration across the university.

The MOU is non-binding, and the parties may not enter into definitive agreements or carry out all described activities, as noted in the company's forward-looking statements disclosure.

Quantinuum is headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado, and employs approximately 800 people globally. UWA is ranked in the global top 100 by QS 2027 and is a member of Australia's Group of Eight universities.
