EchoStar Corporation (NASDAQ: ECHO) announced that its subsidiary DISH DBS Corporation and certain of its subsidiaries emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy on October 1, 2026, following confirmation of a prepackaged reorganization plan by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division.
The bankruptcy court confirmed the DISH DBS prepackaged plan on September 29, 2026. All conditions required for the plan to take effect were satisfied or waived by October 1, 2026.
Through a combination of debt restructuring, the full repayment of DISH DBS Corporation's 7.75% Senior Notes due July 1, 2026, and a partial early repayment of its 5.25% Senior Secured Notes due December 1, 2026, the DISH DBS filing entities reduced their aggregate outstanding debt by approximately $4.35 billion.
The reorganization plan originated from a Restructuring Support Agreement reported in an EchoStar Form 8-K filing dated March 19, 2026. The DISH DBS filing entities had originally commenced voluntary Chapter 11 cases on June 30, 2026, alongside DISH Wireless L.L.C. and its subsidiaries. On August 27, 2026, the entities informed the court they would separate the original joint plan into two distinct plans.
In connection with the emergence from bankruptcy, DISH DBS entered into three supplemental indentures on October 1, 2026, relating to its 5.25% and 5.75% Senior Secured Notes, its 7.375% Senior Notes due 2028, and its 5.125% Senior Notes due 2029. The supplemental indentures will be filed as exhibits to EchoStar's next quarterly report on Form 10-Q.
EchoStar stated that the DISH DBS filing entities, which were deconsolidated from its financial statements as of June 30, 2026, will be reconsolidated into its consolidated financial statements as of October 1, 2026. The information is based on an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
