Google asks EU court to suspend order to share search data with AI rivals
Investing.com -- Google has requested the European Union’s General Court to suspend a regulatory order requiring the company to share its search data with OpenAI and competing search engines.
The Alphabet Inc unit filed for an interim measure at the Luxembourg-based court on Tuesday, the same day it challenged the European Commission’s order through a formal lawsuit.
A Google spokesperson said interim measures apply to cases that present a risk of serious harm, stating the order poses such risks to the privacy of European users.
The European Commission ordered Google in July to share its search data to enable competitors, particularly AI chatbots, to compete with Google Search. The measure aims to provide businesses and users with more options.
Google has criticized the order, stating it threatens privacy and security protections for millions of Europeans. The Commission has said its decisions account for security features and personal data protection of end users.
