SoundHound AI, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOUN) announced the deployment of its voice and generative AI technology in the Kia Sorento launched in India, according to a company press release.
The integration introduces what SoundHound describes as the Kia AI Assistant with Real-Time Generative AI, activated by the "Hey Kia" wake command. The company says this marks the first deployment of this system in the Sorento lineup.
The voice assistant offers three main functions: in-cabin system control, allowing drivers to adjust climate, lighting, windows, and driving modes through natural speech; hands-free access to vehicle information drawn from a digital owner's manual; and real-time conversational search, including point-of-interest navigation and news updates.
Keyvan Mohajer, CEO and co-founder of SoundHound AI, said in the statement: "As demand for intelligent vehicles accelerates across India, extending our AI technology further into Kia's premier models marks another leap forward in scaling our technology across high-growth international markets."
SoundHound said the deployment is part of its broader expansion in automotive markets across Asia and relies on its OASYS agentic platform.
