September 30, 2026 8:30 AM EDT

Elmet Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Elmet Group Co. (NASDAQ: ELMT), has been awarded a contract valued at approximately $36 million by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to supply molybdenum and tungsten alloys and precision wire to the U.S. National Defense Stockpile, according to a company press release dated Sept. 30, 2026.

The materials covered under the contract are used in the production of jet engine components and other aerospace applications. Specific products to be supplied include titanium-zirconium-molybdenum (TZM) alloy billets, bar stock, and ingots, as well as specialized molybdenum and tungsten wire.

The contract is separate from a previously announced DLA award with a ceiling value of $2 billion, which was disclosed on Sept. 14, 2026, and covers tungsten concentrates and sodium tungstate for the National Defense Stockpile.

Derek Fox, President of the Critical Materials Components Division of The Elmet Group, stated: "Refractory metals are foundational to aerospace manufacturing and the production of jet engine components. As a vertically integrated U.S. manufacturer, we believe this contract further demonstrates our role as a trusted domestic source of critical materials and precision-engineered components."

Molybdenum and tungsten are classified as refractory metals due to their ability to withstand extreme temperatures. The press release notes that global supply of these metals has historically been concentrated outside the United States.

Also on Sept. 14, 2026, The Elmet Group announced a $450 million committed investment from the United States Department of War. Elmet Technologies operates facilities in Maine, Ohio, and Michigan, employing nearly 400 people across more than 500,000 square feet of production space.
