American Express (NYSE: AXP) has launched a new suite of corporate products that combines a cashback card, expense management software, and a mobile app aimed at business customers.
The new Corporate Cashback Card earns 1.5% cash back as a monthly statement credit on eligible purchases up to $10 million per calendar year, then 1% after that. The card also offers 3% Uber Cash on business rides and Uber Eats orders. Businesses pay a $2,950 annual program membership fee for unlimited physical and virtual cards, waived for the first year for those who apply and set up expense management access by March 31, 2027.
The accompanying Expense Management software automatically captures transaction data from card purchases and integrates with enterprise resource planning systems. Finance teams can set custom spending policies, issue unlimited virtual cards, and access account statements from a single platform.
The new Amex Expense mobile app automatically generates expense submissions as purchases are made and uses AI to recommend expense field entries based on an employee's history. The app can also prompt receipt uploads and review expenses against company policy before routing them for approval.
American Express said it plans to introduce AI agents into the expense management software later this fall, including an expense agent that communicates with employees via SMS or Slack, and an insights agent that analyzes company spending data and generates charts. The company also plans to add accounts payable software to the platform, though timelines are subject to change.
"By bringing together solutions like Corporate Cards and expense management, we have a more seamless approach to managing company spending," said Emily Discenza, CFO of McIntosh Box & Pallet Co., Inc.
American Express separately noted that its cards are now accepted at more than 190 million merchant locations worldwide as of July 2026, an increase of approximately 20 million locations in 2026. The number of accepting merchant locations outside the U.S. has more than doubled over the last four years.
