Neutrogena, Aveeno, and Regaine, brands owned by Kenvue Inc., presented 12 new scientific data sets at the 35th European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Congress in Vienna, running September 30 through October 3.
The research covered ingredients including niacinamide, trehalose, colloidal oat, and 5% minoxidil, addressing conditions such as acne, hyperpigmentation, eczema, UV-related skin damage, and androgenetic alopecia.
A study on Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer Invisible Fluid Sunscreen Oil Control 50+, formulated with 2% trehalose and 2% niacinamide, found a 56% reduction in visible redness and a 46% reduction in acne-related hyperpigmentation after 28 days in two small Brazilian test groups with acne-prone and oily skin. A second Neutrogena sunscreen study found a 22% improvement in skin hydration and reductions in visible facial spots over 56 days.
Aveeno research using its proprietary Triple Oat Complex showed increased production of skin barrier proteins filaggrin and loricrin, improved hydration, and faster skin recovery following UV exposure. A separate survey of 178 dermatologists and pediatric clinicians across Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States found that 92.7% reported observing steroid-sparing or steroid-optimization effects when a colloidal oat-based emollient was used alongside topical corticosteroids for eczema management.
Regaine presented a post-hoc analysis of a Phase III clinical trial examining 5% Minoxidil Topical Foam in men with androgenetic alopecia. Men aged 20 to 30 years showed an average increase of 26.25 hairs from baseline after 16 weeks, compared with 19.93 hairs among men older than 30. Men with earlier-stage hair loss also showed greater regrowth. Statistically significant improvements versus placebo were observed across all hair loss classifications studied (p<0.002).
Kate Stockman, Vice President and Head of EMEA Research & Development at Kenvue, said the research "advances our understanding of how ingredients such as niacinamide, colloidal oat and 5% minoxidil can support skin barrier health, improve visible skin concerns and promote hair regrowth."
