Sellafield Ltd has selected a joint venture involving Amentum (NYSE: AMTM) as the preferred supplier for a nuclear asset care and asset creation program valued at up to $2.78 billion (£2.1 billion).

The contract, known as the Projects and Asset Care Execution (PACE) framework, will support Sellafield Ltd's spent fuel management and retrievals mission. Services to be provided include engineering and design, procurement, installation, plant modification, project management, commissioning, dismantling, and ongoing asset care.

Lot 1 of PACE will be delivered through OneAxIoM, a joint venture between Amentum and Mitie Plc, with supply chain partners Assystem and Mott MacDonald. The initial contract term is nine years, with an optional six-year extension. Formal award of the framework agreement is pending completion of final contractual arrangements.

John Heller, Chief Executive Officer of Amentum, said the selection reflects the company's "record of excellent delivery performance, collaborative behaviors and constant innovation and improvement." He described PACE as "a significant, long-term growth opportunity for Amentum at Sellafield."

Matthew Johns, Chief Engineer at Sellafield Ltd, said the agreement "is an important step to strengthen our asset care capability" and will provide expertise needed to maintain safe and efficient delivery.

Amentum, headquartered in Chantilly, Virginia, states it employs approximately 50,000 people across more than 70 countries.
