Tesla secures $30 billion in new credit facilities

September 29, 2026 4:40 PM EDT

Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) entered into three new senior unsecured credit agreements on September 29, 2026, totaling $30 billion in available financing, according to a company statement.

The agreements include a $20 billion three-year delayed draw term loan facility with Citibank, N.A. as administrative agent, an $8 billion five-year revolving credit facility, and a $2 billion 364-day revolving credit facility, with Wells Fargo Bank serving as administrative agent for both revolving facilities.

Under the delayed draw term loan, Tesla may draw funds up to ten times within an 18-month window following closing. Available commitments step down to $10 billion at the one-year mark and to $5 billion at 15 months, with any remaining commitments terminating at 18 months. Outstanding loans under this facility mature on September 29, 2029.

The five-year revolving facility allows borrowings in U.S. dollars, pounds sterling, or euros, and includes up to $500 million in letters of credit. It matures on September 29, 2031, with Tesla holding the option to request two one-year extensions. The 364-day revolving facility matures on September 28, 2027, with a potential one-year term-out extension.

Tesla may expand the revolving facilities by up to an additional $4 billion, potentially raising total revolving capacity to $14 billion. Proceeds may be used for general corporate purposes. No amounts were drawn under any of the facilities as of September 29, 2026, and Tesla stated it does not plan to draw on the facilities in 2026.

The Credit Agreements require Tesla to maintain at least $5 billion in consolidated liquidity. Interest on U.S. dollar borrowings accrues at a variable rate based on Term SOFR or an alternate base rate, plus an applicable margin tied to Tesla's credit rating.

Separately, Tesla terminated its existing $5 billion revolving credit agreement, originally dated January 20, 2023, with Citibank as agent. No borrowings were outstanding under that facility, and Tesla incurred no early termination penalties.
