NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) announced NetApp Keystone Sovereign, a storage-as-a-service offering designed to provide data sovereignty controls for qualified European customers, according to a company press release.
The offering is intended to help enterprises in regulated industries keep data, support, and operations within specified geographic boundaries. Key capabilities include European-based data residency for customer data, logs, backups, and telemetry; European-based support and escalation paths; European-controlled access and management processes; documentation of telemetry, monitoring, and data flows; and contractual structures aligned with sovereignty requirements.
Initial pilots will be available for customers in Germany and France, with additional countries planned for future inclusion.
"Data sovereignty has become a strategic requirement as organizations move beyond asking where data resides to demanding greater control over the technical and operational conditions that govern it," said Ivan Iannaccone, Vice President and General Manager, Keystone at NetApp.
NetApp noted that its statements about unreleased offerings and future plans are subject to change and should not be relied upon for purchasing decisions.
