Vuzix launches Shrike waveguide display platform for defense use

September 29, 2026 9:16 AM EDT

Vuzix Corporation (NASDAQ: VUZI) has introduced a configurable waveguide display platform called Shrike, targeting defense, security and first responder applications, and has begun shipping initial units to customers for evaluation.

According to a company press release, the Shrike platform delivers full-color 1280 × 720 resolution imagery with a 40-degree field of view and a rated brightness of 3,000 nits to the eye. The platform includes a 25 mm eye relief and a 14.3 × 14 mm eye box, and can be configured as either a monocular or binocular system. Available features include electrochromic tinting and Vuzix Incognito technology, which the company says reduces outward-visible light from the display.

The platform connects via Micro HDMI and Mini USB and is intended to support use cases such as situational awareness, drone operations, unmanned ground vehicle control, and mission information display.

"Shrike provides defense customers a platform they can work with now, while giving them room to tailor the display to their application," said Paul Travers, President and Chief Executive Officer of Vuzix.

Vuzix plans to demonstrate Shrike at the AUSA Annual Meeting & Exposition, scheduled for October 12–14, 2026, in Washington, D.C., and at Modern Warfare Week, November 16–19, 2026, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Vuzix, based in Rochester, New York, manufactures diffractive waveguides using nanoimprint lithography and also holds operations in Kyoto and Okayama, Japan.
