Leidos launches AI automation tool for federal cybersecurity teams

September 29, 2026 9:01 AM EDT

Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) introduced a new product called UpHold Effect Agentic SOC Automation on Sept. 29, 2026, designed to help federal security operations center teams manage and respond to cyber alerts using artificial intelligence agents.

The tool operates continuously to triage alerts, gather context, and compile findings for human analysts to review. It is built to integrate with an organization's existing security tools rather than replace them. Organizations can set the level of authority granted to the AI, determining whether it recommends actions or carries them out autonomously.

The product includes auditable records of AI observations, conclusions, and actions. A FedRAMP Class D (High) deployment option is available, and the capability can serve as a pathway toward Department of Defense Impact Level 4 and 5 environments with appropriate government sponsorship.

"Cyber teams need to keep pace with threats without giving up control," said Steve Hull, president of Leidos Digital. "UpHold Effect Agentic SOC Automation can take on more of the investigative workload while giving agencies the flexibility to decide when AI recommends an action and when it is allowed to act."

Agentic SOC Automation is a feature within the broader UpHold Effect platform, which covers areas including adversary detection, cyber deception, cloud security, and threat hunting. It is part of Leidos' UpHold product suite.

Leidos, headquartered in Reston, Virginia, reported annual revenues of approximately $17.2 billion for the fiscal year ended Jan. 2, 2026, and employs approximately 50,000 people globally.
