EHang expands Vietnam eVTOL sandbox program with Hanoi partnership

EHang Holdings Limited (Nasdaq: EH) announced that Vietnam has become the second country to join its Global Fast Track Program, following Sri Lanka, with Hanoi serving as the program's first city-level partnership in the country.

EHang's local partner, HungViet Technology and Investment Trading JSC, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology to conduct regulatory sandbox testing of eVTOL aircraft, centered on EHang's EH216-S pilotless passenger-carrying aircraft. Testing is planned to take place at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park.

Under the agreement, the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology will guide the application and approval process for sandbox testing. HungViet will commit technical, financial, and personnel resources beginning October 2026, prepare application materials, and conduct controlled test flights once authorization is granted. EHang will supply the EH216-S aircraft, operational technology systems, and personnel training support.

The cooperation plan includes building an unmanned aircraft traffic management model and an operations control center model, developing technical standards and regulations, and conducting technical exchanges. Both human-carrying and cargo-carrying variants of the EH216-series aircraft are expected to undergo phased technical verification.

EHang stated it plans to expand its presence in Vietnam beyond Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, targeting urban commuting and tourism-related applications.

Conor Yang, Chief Financial Officer of EHang, said the program is "designed for the regulatory frameworks and market characteristics of individual countries and regions," connecting technology, commercial operations, and regulation through sandbox testing and local partnerships.

According to official Vietnamese statistics cited in the press release, Vietnam received nearly 21.2 million international tourists in 2025, a record high. EHang also noted it held discussions with civil aviation representatives from multiple Asia-Pacific countries at the 61st Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation.
