KBR (NYSE: KBR) has been selected by SABIC Agri-Nutrients to provide its Purifier® technology for a new ammonia plant in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, according to a company press release.
Under the contract, KBR will supply technology licensing, basic engineering design, proprietary equipment, and catalyst for a 3,500 metric tons per day single-train ammonia plant. Samsung E&A will serve as the EPC contractor on the project. The facility is expected to produce 1.2 million metric tons of ammonia annually.
The project is projected to increase SABIC Agri-Nutrients' urea production capacity from 4.8 million to 7.4 million metric tons per year. KBR describes the award as one of the largest ammonia capacity plants licensed in Saudi Arabia and its largest ammonia license by capacity in the Middle East and Africa region.
KBR President and CEO Stuart Bradie said, "This award confirms the strength of our Purifier® ammonia technology and the trust that leading producers such as SABIC AN place in KBR to deliver reliable, high-performance solutions at world scale."
The contract marks KBR's second large-scale single-train ammonia award of 2026, following a 3,430 metric tons per day plant in Latin America. The company states its ammonia technology has been deployed in more than 260 grassroots facilities since 1943.
KBR also disclosed plans to spin off its Mission Technology Solutions business as an independent public company in January 2027, which will operate under the name Trinzic. The company said Trinzic will launch with more than $5 billion in annual revenue and 18,000 employees.
