Anthropic and Nvidia partner on AI agent security platform

Anthropic and Nvidia have introduced a layered security system for AI agents, combining Anthropic's Claude Managed Agents with Nvidia's newly announced Open Agent Safety Platform.

Nvidia announced the Open Agent Safety Platform as an open software platform and reference system design for strengthening AI security. Anthropic collaborated with Nvidia to integrate additional security and control layers into the agent stack.

Claude Managed Agents is a suite of composable APIs designed for building and deploying agents at scale. The system stores agent credentials, such as passwords and access keys, in a separate vault so agents never have direct access to them. The agent loop runs on a separate server from the sandbox environment where work is executed.

Nvidia's OpenShell is an open source secure runtime that governs and monitors AI agent behavior. It blocks all actions unless explicitly permitted by a policy rule, logs every decision, and applies rules to files, network connections, and data the agent accesses. OpenShell includes a policy prover that uses mathematical proof to confirm what an agent can access under defined rules.

The two systems are designed to operate as independent layers, so each enforces its limits without depending on the other. Companies can adopt individual layers based on their existing setup.

Claude Managed Agents also includes audit trails, multi-agent orchestration, long-running autonomous sessions, and integration with existing enterprise access controls.

Among companies currently using Managed Agents, Notion uses it to run parallel tasks within its workspace, Rakuten deploys specialist agents across multiple business units, and Asana built AI Teammates that work alongside users within its project management platform.

Claude Managed Agents is available now and can operate in a customer-controlled sandbox on private infrastructure or through a managed provider. Nvidia OpenShell is available as open source software under the Apache 2.0 license on GitHub and Nvidia's developer resources page.
