Gen Digital CEO addresses acquisition rumors and raises fiscal 2027 outlook

September 28, 2026 4:30 PM EDT

Gen Digital Inc. (NASDAQ: GEN) Chief Executive Officer Vincent Pilette published a LinkedIn post addressing speculation about a potential acquisition of GoDaddy, while also providing an update on the company's financial outlook.

Pilette said he could not comment on rumors but outlined the company's acquisition criteria, which includes five considerations: strategic fit, pricing, operational efficiencies, accretion, and comparison against share buybacks.

The CEO cited past acquisitions of Avast and MoneyLion as examples of the company's approach. He said MoneyLion is on track to deliver more than 30% return on invested capital in its second year, and that Avast added hundreds of millions of active users.

Pilette said Gen Digital raised its fiscal 2027 outlook to revenue growth of 9% to 11%, and mid-to-high-teens non-GAAP earnings per share growth. He added that results for the quarter ending October 2 and the full-year outlook are both tracking toward the higher end of guidance.

Pilette noted that the company has grown from $2 billion in revenue and less than $1 in earnings per share six years ago to more than $5 billion in revenue and nearly $3 in earnings per share currently.
