Eldorado Gold Corporation (NYSE: EGO) announced that its Skouries mine in northern Greece has been connected to the Greek national power grid after receiving final inspection, testing, and approval from the Greek transmission authority.
The permanent grid connection follows the recent achievement of first copper-gold concentrate production at the site. Eldorado said commercial production at Skouries is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
"Site energization is an important step in advancing Skouries toward ramp up to steady-state operations and reflects the dedication and commitment of our team," said George Burns, Chief Executive Officer. "The connection to permanent grid power supports the ongoing commissioning and ramp up of key systems across the site and provides the long-term power infrastructure required for the operation."
Skouries is projected to produce an average of 140,000 ounces of gold and 67 million pounds of copper annually over the life of the mine. Eldorado operates mining, development, and exploration assets in Canada, Türkiye, and Greece.
