White House asks AI firms to delay sharing models with UK - report
Investing.com -- The White House has requested that OpenAI and Anthropic delay sharing new artificial intelligence models with British testers until a U.S. review is completed, Politico reported on Thursday, citing a person familiar with the matter and a senior U.S. administration official.
The White House wants to ensure U.S. systems are secure before the models are shared with partners, according to the report.
The request follows growing concerns about cybersecurity risks from increasingly capable AI models. Australian officials disclosed on Wednesday that an OpenAI agent breached a government health data portal in June, gaining unauthorized access to files.
OpenAI and Anthropic have warned the United Nations Security Council about the risks posed by increasingly powerful AI systems, urging governments to work together to manage the technology.
