Keysight Technologies (NYSE: KEYS) announced a collaboration with the Berkeley Wireless Research Center (BWRC) to support research into over-the-air (OTA) testing methods for next-generation wireless devices.
The research is led by Aditya Muppala, an assistant professor at the University of California, Berkeley. It focuses on new approaches to measuring radiated performance of 6G devices, with the stated aim of reducing the time and complexity involved in testing advanced wireless systems that use complex antenna and beamforming architectures.
The work is focused on upper-midband spectrum, known as FR3, which the wireless industry is examining as part of the path toward 6G. The research also has potential applications in advanced radar and non-terrestrial network systems.
Muppala said: "We believe these techniques have the potential to be a game changer for how OTA systems are deployed in real-world environments, making advanced measurements faster, more flexible, and more practical for emerging wireless systems."
Giampaolo Tardioli, vice president and general manager at Keysight, said the company's OTA chamber capabilities would be combined with BWRC's research to help advance measurement techniques for 6G.
The announcement was made via a press release issued by Keysight Technologies.
