Optimum Communications, Inc. (NYSE: OPTU) and A+E Global Media have signed an expanded, multi-year distribution agreement that allows Optimum TV customers to continue receiving A+E programming across the company's 21-state service area, according to a press release from the companies.
The agreement covers A+E's full linear channel portfolio, including A&E, The History Channel, Lifetime, Lifetime Movie Network, FYI, VICE, Military History Channel, Crime+Investigation, Lifetime Real Women, and The History Channel en Español.
The deal also includes new collaboration opportunities in advertising and distribution between the two companies.
The press release cited recent A+E programming performance on Optimum, noting that WWII with Tom Hanks ranked as cable's No. 1 nonfiction series among adults 25 and older, reaching more than 24 million viewers. Lifetime's Angel in the Rubble ranked No. 1 on Optimum among women 25 and older.
"This new agreement helps us build on that commitment by preserving access to A+E's entertainment programming that our customers want to watch," said Keith Bowen, President of News, Programming and Business Services at Optimum.
Jane Rice, Co-President of Distribution at A+E Global Media, said the company is "pleased to continue our longstanding relationship and bring its customers the distinctive storytelling, trusted brands, and premium entertainment that define A+E Global Media."
Optimum serves approximately 4.2 million residential and business customers across 21 states.
