September 24, 2026 9:03 AM EDT

Alaska Airlines (NYSE: ALK) plans to increase seat capacity at Seattle/Everett (Paine Field) by 50% starting this fall through summer 2027, adding new routes and expanding existing service on several West Coast destinations.

The airline will launch new nonstop service between Paine Field and San Jose, Calif., beginning April 14, 2027. The route will operate twice daily on Horizon Air using Embraer E175 aircraft and is planned as year-round service.

Alaska Airlines will also expand existing routes from Paine Field. Los Angeles service will grow to twice daily, with both flights operated on Boeing 737 aircraft. Portland will increase to two daily flights. Additional seats will be added on routes to San Diego and San Francisco.

"Paine Field is an important part of our Puget Sound network, giving guests a simpler, more convenient way to access Alaska's West Coast flying," said Andrew Harrison, senior vice president and chief commercial officer at Alaska Airlines. "As we grow, we're strengthening our presence across the region with more seats, more frequency and more convenient travel options for guests in Snohomish County, North Seattle and beyond."

Brett Smith, CEO of Propeller Airports, which manages Paine Field, said the expansion reflects traveler demand. "These added flights give travelers more nonstop options close to home and further strengthen Paine Field's role in serving the region," Smith said.

Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air are subsidiaries of Alaska Air Group, which trades on the New York Stock Exchange as NYSE: ALK.
