Boeing and Turkish Airlines finalize order for up to 150 737 MAX jets

Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Turkish Airlines announced an order for up to 150 737 MAX airplanes on Sept. 23, 2026, concluding discussions that began in 2025.

The agreement covers a firm purchase of 100 737-8 aircraft and options for an additional 50 737 MAX jets, making it Turkish Airlines' largest single-aisle Boeing order. The deal also includes substitution rights for the 737-10, the largest variant in the 737 MAX family.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

"This agreement marks another significant step in the continued expansion of our fleet," said Prof Murat Şeker, Turkish Airlines chairman of the board and the executive committee. "We are pleased to build on our longstanding cooperation with Boeing through an agreement that also supports Türkiye's aviation ecosystem."

Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said the order reflects the "trust and shared vision" of the two companies' partnership and cited Boeing's continued support of Türkiye's aviation ecosystem.

Turkish Airlines, including its subsidiary AJet, currently operates a fleet of more than 200 Boeing aircraft. The new 737-8 jets are intended to serve domestic and international routes from the airline's Istanbul hub.

The order follows Turkish Airlines' 2025 purchase of up to 75 787 Dreamliners. Boeing states the 737 MAX family uses 20% less fuel compared to the aircraft it replaces. The agreement also includes an industrial participation component supporting the Turkish aviation sector.
