Liberty Global signs three-year AI partnership with Sierra
Liberty Global (NASDAQ: LBTYA, LBTYB, LBTYK) announced a three-year strategic partnership with Sierra, a conversational AI platform, to deploy AI-powered customer service tools across its European telecommunications businesses, according to a press release dated Sept. 23, 2026.
The framework agreement covers Liberty Global's approximately 80 million fixed and mobile connections in Europe. Implementation has already begun, with use cases and channel configurations tailored to individual markets, brands, and customers.
Under the agreement, Sierra's platform will enable AI agents to handle customer interactions through chat, voice, and text in natural language. The arrangement is intended to allow customer-care teams to redirect time toward tasks requiring human judgment.
Sierra was founded by Bret Taylor, former co-CEO of Salesforce and former chairman of OpenAI, and Clay Bavor, a former Google executive. The company was valued at $15 billion in a funding round in May 2026. Sierra claims its platform is used by more than 40% of the top 50 Fortune 500 companies and one in three leading banks.
Mike Fries, Liberty Global's chairman and CEO, said the partnership would "deliver better customer experience across our group by making customer journeys simpler, faster and more effective."
Liberty Global generates aggregate revenue of $22 billion across its telecom operations, including approximately $18 billion from nonconsolidated joint ventures and $4 billion from consolidated operations.
