CGI (NYSE: GIB and D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NASDAQ: QBTS) announced a strategic partnership aimed at helping enterprise clients apply quantum computing technologies across logistics, transportation, and retail industries, according to a press release.
The partnership builds on more than a year of collaboration between the two companies. Under the agreement, CGI will integrate D-Wave's quantum computing platforms, including the Advantage2™ quantum computer and hybrid solvers, into its advanced technology services portfolio.
Planned initiatives include quantum-enabled solutions for transportation and rail operations, covering train scheduling, rail network and yard operations, and resource allocation. The companies also plan to develop retail applications targeting supply chain planning, delivery routing, and workforce scheduling.
"Organizations are moving beyond research to evaluate where quantum technologies can improve optimization and enhance decision-making," said Dave Henderson, Chief Technology Officer at CGI. "Through our partnership with D-Wave, CGI is helping clients identify high-value use cases, and to validate them through practical experimentation and broader enterprise adoption."
Lorenzo Martinelli, chief revenue officer at D-Wave, said the combination of D-Wave's quantum technology with CGI's industry expertise and delivery capabilities would give organizations "a clear path from exploration to production and measurable business value."
CGI, founded in 1976, reported fiscal 2025 revenue of CA$15.91 billion and employs approximately 94,000 consultants and professionals globally. D-Wave describes itself as the only dual-platform quantum computing company offering both annealing and gate-model systems.
