U.S. private employers added an average of 20,000 jobs per week for the four weeks ending September 5, 2026, according to a preliminary estimate from the ADP National Employment Report (NER) Pulse, a weekly update produced by ADP Research (NASDAQ: ADP) in collaboration with the Stanford Digital Economy Lab.
The figure marks the third consecutive week of accelerating hiring, up from 16,750 for the four weeks ending August 29, 12,250 for the period ending August 22, and 10,000 for the period ending August 15. ADP noted the estimates are preliminary and subject to revision as additional data becomes available.
The NER Pulse measures the week-over-week change in employment using a four-week moving average of seasonally adjusted, high-frequency payroll data. The figures carry a two-week lag to allow for more complete estimates.
The next NER Pulse is scheduled for release on October 6, 2026.
