Levi Strauss and M&S launch fashion supply chain renewables group

September 22, 2026 8:02 AM EDT

Levi Strauss & Co. and Marks & Spencer have launched the Fashion Renewable Collaborative (FRC), an initiative aimed at helping fashion industry suppliers adopt renewable electricity across global supply chains. The announcement was made at New York Climate Week on Sept. 22, 2026.

SE Advisory Services, the consulting arm of Schneider Electric, will serve as the program's global implementation partner. The FRC is open to additional fashion brands seeking to join as sponsors or members.

The initiative is designed to address barriers that have slowed supplier adoption of renewable electricity, including limited resources, market complexity, and fragmented engagement from multiple customers. According to the Apparel Impact Institute, textile processing accounts for more than half of the apparel industry's emissions. The World Resources Institute and the Apparel Impact Institute's Roadmap to Net Zero estimates that shifting manufacturing to renewable electricity represents roughly two-thirds of the sector's identified emissions-reduction potential.

The FRC framework includes digital education modules powered by SE Advisory Services' Resource Advisor+ platform, market guidance, and support for procuring renewable electricity through mechanisms such as power purchase agreements, energy attribute certificates, on-site generation, and energy storage.

The collaborative builds on prior engagement programs from the two founding companies, which together registered nearly 500 supplier facilities.

"Initiatives like this create better working relationships and a more effective path forward," said Jennifer DuBuisson, Senior Director of Sustainability at Levi Strauss & Co. "The Fashion Renewable Collaborative enables greater support of suppliers that want to access or would like to increase use of renewable electricity but haven't been able to so far."

Katharine Beacham, Head of Sustainability and Materials in Fashion, Home & Beauty at M&S, said the collaborative "will provide practical support, resources and greater access to renewable electricity, helping suppliers take action and facilitating change in the fashion supply chain."

Levi Strauss & Co. (NYSE: LEVI) reported 2025 net revenues of $6.3 billion. Schneider Electric is listed on Euronext Paris.
