IonQ (NYSE: IONQ) has announced a multi-year strategic partnership with South Korea-based quantum technology company SDT, Inc. to supply quantum computing and networking hardware to the Asia-Pacific region, according to a press release from IonQ.
Under the agreement, IonQ will provide SDT with a Superion 256 quantum computer and a silicon-vacancy (SiV) quantum memory module. The Superion 256 system is planned for deployment with an SDT customer in South Korea, where the two companies intend to collaborate on a hybrid quantum-classical data center.
SDT plans to establish a quantum manufacturing and system-integration facility in Gumi, South Korea. The facility is intended to serve as a site for IonQ's SiV quantum memory packaging and manufacturing, as well as quantum system assembly, integration, and commissioning.
The partnership expands an existing collaboration between the two companies that previously focused on cloud-based software integration, extending it to physical hardware production, assembly, and regional resale.
SDT also stated plans to participate in a separate cancer center project involving hybrid quantum-classical infrastructure for medical and biomedical research alongside IonQ.
"Demand for our new Superion 256 system is growing globally, and this agreement in Asia Pacific is yet another example of our clients combining IonQ's leading quantum computers with our quantum networking and quantum memory solutions," said Niccolo de Masi, Chairman and CEO of IonQ.
Jiwon Yune, CEO of SDT, said the company's objective is to make the Gumi facility "a key operational hub for IonQ's global supply chain and regional deployment."
IonQ listed existing South Korea collaborations including partnerships with KISTI, SK Telecom, Hyundai Motor Company, Seoul National University, and Sungkyunkwan University. SDT was named a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer in 2026.
