Wabtec Corporation (NYSE: WAB) has signed a long-term services agreement valued at more than $700 million with La Compagnie du TransGuinéen (CTG) to support a fleet of Evolution Series locomotives in Guinea, according to a company press release.

The contract, which Wabtec describes as its largest services agreement in Africa, covers CTG's fleet of ES43AC locomotives powered by 4,500-horsepower Evolution Series engines. Combined with locomotive orders placed in 2024, Wabtec's total contribution to the Simandou project now exceeds $1.2 billion.

CTG operates a railway of more than 600 kilometers connecting the Simandou iron ore mine in eastern Guinea to the Port of Morebaya. The line also serves passengers and non-mining freight.

The multi-year agreement covers scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, parts and component overhauls, parts management, logistics support, workforce training, advanced remote diagnostics, and local business partnerships.

"This agreement is designed to help maximize locomotive availability, efficiency, and reliability, while supporting the development of local capabilities through workforce development, skills training, and partnerships with Guinean businesses," said Sameer Gaur, President of Global Freight Services for Wabtec.

Mamoudou Nagnalen Barry, Chairman of the TransGuinéen Company, said the project requires "world-class technology and support, as well as a clear commitment to localization and technology transfer."
