Vicor Corporation raised its third-quarter 2026 sequential revenue growth guidance from nearly 10% to more than 20%, citing royalties from a recently announced non-exclusive license to its Vertical Power Delivery (VPD) technology, according to a company statement.
The Andover, Massachusetts-based power components maker said four companies, described as leading OEMs and hyperscalers, have secured licenses to its power system technology. Vicor trades on the Nasdaq as NASDAQ: VICR.
CEO Patrizio Vinciarelli said in the statement that unlicensed hyperscalers initially contacted Vicor after their computing systems were banned from importation due to infringing non-bus modules (NBMs), and upon recognition that systems using VPD could also face import bans.
"Since the first patent to VPD was only recently asserted, it is still possible to secure a license at an early stage of escalation with a low royalty rate," Vinciarelli said.
Vinciarelli also addressed suppliers, stating that those selling power modules to licensed OEMs and hyperscalers contribute to supply chain scalability, while those that "copy innovators and disregard their patent rights will continue to cause supply disruption to their customers and be liable for monetary damages to Vicor."
