Ameresco, Inc. (NYSE: AMRC) has been selected by the U.S. Army to enter into exclusive negotiations for long-term leases at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland and Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey, according to a press release from the company.

The selections were made under the Army's Enhanced Use Lease authority, 10 U.S.C. ยง 2667, as part of its Strategic Capital Initiatives program, which is designed to engage private-sector partners in installation modernization. The projects are intended to provide commercial power generation capacity to each state's grid while supporting the installations during utility outages.

At Picatinny Arsenal, Ameresco plans to deploy modular microreactor technology in a first phase, followed by small modular reactor technology in a second phase. At Aberdeen Proving Ground, the proposed scope includes firm natural gas and advanced nuclear generation, with Ameresco collaborating with Terrestrial Energy to deploy an integrated molten salt reactor.

Under the Enhanced Use Lease structure, the U.S. government retains title to the leased property, while Ameresco would be responsible for financing, designing, building, operating, securing, and decommissioning the facilities. No construction will begin until environmental and regulatory reviews are completed, including review under the National Environmental Policy Act and other required federal, state, and local permitting processes.

Nicole Bulgarino, Co-President of Ameresco, said the projects "represent a significant opportunity to advance both traditional firm power generation technologies and innovative nuclear solutions."

Ameresco noted that these projects were not included in its previously reported backlog as of June 30, 2026, and that the announcement is not necessarily indicative of the timing or amount of revenue that may be recognized from the opportunity.
