AbbVie (NYSE: ABBV) and Iambic Therapeutics announced a multi-year collaboration to apply Iambic's artificial intelligence platform to small molecule drug discovery across immunology, neuroscience and oncology, according to a press release dated Sept. 21, 2026.
Under the agreement, Iambic will receive an upfront payment and is eligible for success-based milestone payments and tiered royalties on net sales from products generated through the collaboration. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The partnership will use Iambic's platform, which includes two AI technologies — Enchant and NeuralPLexer — designed to evaluate multiple drug candidate properties simultaneously rather than individually. The collaboration will specifically deploy Enchant v3, described as a multimodal transformer model trained on more than 6,000 molecular properties.
"Combining Iambic's platform with the drug-hunting expertise of AbbVie scientists can help us make more precise decisions about the molecules we pursue," said Jonathon Sedgwick, Ph.D., senior vice president and global head of discovery research at AbbVie.
Tom Miller, Ph.D., co-founder and CEO of Iambic, said the company aims to bring its platform to bear alongside AbbVie's team "to address unmet patient need."
Iambic is a clinical-stage life sciences and technology company based in San Diego. AbbVie is headquartered in North Chicago, Illinois.
