Fastly, Inc. (NASDAQ: FSLY) has launched three new products — AI Runtime Control, AI Firewall, and expanded API Security capabilities — designed to give organizations control and visibility over AI systems, according to a company press release.
AI Runtime Control routes model calls through a single endpoint across public and self-hosted providers, offering real-time visibility into token spend, rate limiting, budget controls, and failover. AI Firewall targets large language model-based threats, including prompt injection attacks, by evaluating prompts in the request path before they reach AI models. The updated API Security capabilities enforce API contracts across agentic and conventional traffic, allowing organizations to observe or block requests that fall outside established boundaries.
Fastly said machine-generated traffic on its network exceeded 50% in July and August of this year, while AI traffic grew 6.5 times faster than human traffic from January through May. The company also cited McKinsey data indicating that 93% of organizations are exceeding their AI budgets.
"To effectively adopt coding agents and implement AI features without losing velocity or eroding existing business resilience, enterprises need control in production, at runtime, without delay, friction, or disruption," said Kelly Shortridge, Chief Product Officer at Fastly.
The three products are now generally available and are part of Fastly's broader "Fastly for AI" portfolio, which also includes existing tools such as Bot Management, DDoS Protection, and its Next-Gen WAF. Fastly's network operates at 622 Tbps of global edge capacity as of June 30, 2026, and handles more than five trillion requests daily as of March 31, 2026.
