Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA) has launched the KC401, an Android-based self-service kiosk designed for use in retail, hospitality, manufacturing, and healthcare environments, according to a company statement.
The device features a 10-inch impact-tested, scratch-resistant display and carries an IP65 rating, protecting it against dust and liquids. An optional scanner supports hands-free workflows such as price checks, loyalty identification, and product returns.
The KC401 is compatible with the same mounting hardware used by Zebra's existing CC6000 kiosk, allowing current CC6000 users to upgrade without replacing infrastructure. The device runs Zebra DNA software, which the company says simplifies setup, security, and device management.
According to research from Coresight Research cited by Zebra, more than 60% of retailers report that shoppers struggle to find products and navigate stores. The same research indicates that self-service solutions free up the capacity of about four associates per store on average, representing roughly 22% of front-of-store labor capacity.
"The KC401 provides a versatile, reliable solution for organizations to deliver the seamless, intuitive self-service experiences that their frontline workers and those they serve expect," said James Poulton, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Mobile Computing at Zebra Technologies.
The KC401 expands Zebra's self-service portfolio, which also includes mobile computers and multipurpose touchscreens. The portfolio has been broadened through the integration of products from Elo, which is now part of Zebra.
