Subaru to evaluate onsemi power platform for future EVs

September 16, 2026 2:31 PM EDT

Subaru Corporation has entered into a technology engagement with onsemi (Nasdaq: ON) to evaluate the semiconductor company's Embedded Power Platform (EPP) for potential use in future electrified vehicles, according to a press release issued Sept. 16, 2026.

Under the arrangement, Subaru will receive early access to EPP engineering samples, simulation models and technical expertise to assess the platform's suitability for next-generation power architectures. The initial phase focuses on engineering evaluation and technical learning.

EPP embeds multiple semiconductor devices directly into a silicon-based wafer-level package, with onsemi claiming this approach allows the package itself to contribute to electrical and thermal performance. The company says the platform can scale across multiple power levels using a common architecture.

"Advancing our electrification strategy requires us to continually assess technologies that can improve vehicle performance, efficiency and system integration," said Tamotsu Inui, Managing Executive Officer at Subaru. "We are encouraged by the platform's potential and look forward to continuing our technical engagement as we develop future electrified-vehicle architectures."

Dinesh Ramanathan, Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy at onsemi, said Subaru's participation would provide customer insight to support EPP's continued development.

The engagement does not represent a supply agreement or production commitment. No financial terms were disclosed.
