FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) has launched FedEx Authenticated Delivery, a premium delivery option that uses QR code verification to restrict package release to authorized recipients, according to a company press release.
The service is available for eligible residential and commercial shipments in the U.S. and Canada and is designed for high-value or sensitive goods, including luxury items, electronics, healthcare products, aerospace components, and collectibles.
When a shipper selects the service, the recipient receives a unique QR code via FedEx notifications. A FedEx driver scans and validates the code before releasing the package. No physical signature is required.
The service restricts certain delivery changes, including Hold at Location, Redirect to Hold, and address corrections. Vacation holds may be available through FedEx Delivery Manager. FedEx Authenticated Delivery is offered alongside select expedited FedEx services.
"The future of delivery isn't just moving packages quickly. It's about building greater trust throughout the delivery process," said Neil Gibson, senior vice president of global customer experience at FedEx.
The new option expands FedEx's existing Proof of Delivery portfolio. Eligibility requirements and availability details are accessible on the FedEx website.
