Intuitive Machines, Inc. (Nasdaq: LUNR) announced Sept. 15, 2026, that it has completed the handover of the SXM-11 geostationary communications satellite to SiriusXM following successful in-orbit testing.
The satellite launched June 28, 2026, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and is now fully operational. SXM-11 is built on Intuitive Machines' IM 1300 series platform.
According to the press release, this marks the 13th spacecraft the two companies have built together. Work on the next satellite in the series is already underway, according to SiriusXM Chief Product and Technology Officer Sean Gibbons.
"For more than two decades, SiriusXM and the Intuitive Machines team have worked together to design and deliver multiple generations of high-powered satellites," Gibbons said. "This latest satellite builds on the success of SXM-9 and SXM-10, and work is already underway on the next satellite in the series."
Chris Johnson, President of Intuitive Machines Space Systems, noted the milestone in the companies' partnership. "SXM-11 marks another milestone in our longstanding partnership with SiriusXM. Over the course of our relationship, we have built 13 spacecraft together," he said.
Intuitive Machines also noted it has recently completed acquisitions of KinetX, Lanteris Space Systems, Goonhilly Earth Station Ltd., and COMSAT LLC.
