Rubrik launches MCP tool for AI agents in private preview

Rubrik (NYSE: RBRK) has announced Rubrik MCP (Model Context Protocol), a new capability that gives AI agents programmable access to Rubrik's data, identity, and application intelligence within its Security Cloud platform.

The feature is currently available in private preview for existing Rubrik customers, with general availability targeted for October 2026. Rubrik said the tool was developed in collaboration with Anthropic and is powered by Anthropic's Claude models.

According to the company, Rubrik AI is now used by one-third of its global customer base. Rubrik MCP exposes the Rubrik Security Cloud API schema to connected agents, allowing teams to build reusable, multi-step recovery or compliance workflows. The system includes role-based access controls and guardrails aligned with the OWASP MCP Top 10 security framework.

"Cyber threats accelerate at machine speed, and we are helping our customers use AI to maintain complete visibility and control across complex enterprise environments," said Arvind Nithrakashyap, co-founder and chief technology officer at Rubrik.

Rubrik MCP follows the company's earlier announcement of Rubrik as a standalone AI agent. The new protocol connects AI agents directly to Rubrik's telemetry and governance framework, enabling what the company describes as multi-step reasoning for incident response.
