Digital Realty (NYSE: DLR) announced the availability of ServiceFabric Model Context Protocol (MCP), a programmable control platform designed for private AI environments, according to a company press release dated Sept. 15, 2026.
The product extends Digital Realty's global interconnection platform across more than 800 Digital Realty and third-party data centers. It is built on AI Private Exchange (AIPx), an underlying architecture that includes patented policy and orchestration technology for programmable AI infrastructure.
ServiceFabric MCP provides controls across four areas: intent-based connectivity design and provisioning, real-time capacity and network telemetry, identity and access control via OAuth 2, and operations integration with tools including Slack, Microsoft Teams, Splunk, and Datadog.
The platform supports connections at Layer 2 and Layer 3 and does not require enterprises to operate exclusively within Digital Realty facilities or commit to a single AI model.
"ServiceFabric MCP extends the foundation of AIPx with programmable controls and agent-ready interfaces, and our patent position reflects the long-term investment we've made in this architecture," said Chris Sharp, Chief Technology Officer at Digital Realty.
Digital Realty said it has launched AI solutions with partners including ePlus, Lenovo, and Dell, using infrastructure powered by technologies from Nvidia and AMD. The company said additional providers are in active development.
See All AI, a medical imaging AI company, cited use of Digital Realty's Boston campus and ServiceFabric to support its Nvidia DGX B200 environment. "Digital Realty's Boston campus and ServiceFabric provide the high-bandwidth, low-latency connectivity required to support our NVIDIA DGX B200 environment," said T. Michael Thornton, CEO of See All AI.
IDC Research VP Mary Johnston Turner said production AI workloads now require control over data movement and policy enforcement that public cloud APIs alone cannot deliver.
ServiceFabric MCP is available as of the announcement date. Digital Realty operates more than 300 facilities across 55 metros in more than 30 countries.
