Sensata Technologies (NYSE: ST) has introduced OmniNode, a patent-pending, off-the-shelf high-voltage power distribution system targeting commercial electric vehicle manufacturers, according to a company statement.
The product consolidates switching, protection, sensing, diagnostics, communications and DC charging functions into a single modular platform. Sensata said the system draws on existing components from its portfolio, including contactors, fuses and current sensors.
OmniNode is designed for battery electric on- and off-road commercial vehicles, including Class 5 and above trucks and buses.
Brian Wilkie, Executive Vice President and President of Aerospace, Defense and Commercial Equipment at Sensata Technologies, said: "Commercial vehicle manufacturers are under pressure to scale electrification programs while managing increasing system complexity. With the OmniNode, we are delivering an integrated, off-the-shelf approach that helps engineers simplify power distribution architecture, accelerate development timelines and bring greater consistency and efficiency to vehicle platform design."
Sensata said the standardized platform is intended to reduce the need for custom-engineered solutions and shorten development timelines for original equipment manufacturers deploying multiple vehicle platforms.
