Rogers and Quebecor sign 12-year French-language NHL deal

Rogers Communications (NYSE: RCI) and Quebecor have announced a 12-year sublicensing agreement for French-language national NHL broadcasts, beginning with the 2026-27 season.

Under the agreement, TVA Sports and TVA Sports Direct will broadcast up to 350 regular-season NHL games per season in French. The illico+ platform will also be part of the broadcast arrangement.

Quebecor will hold French broadcasting rights for 32 Montréal Canadiens regular-season games — 10 more than under the previous agreement — as well as exclusive French-language rights to all Montréal Canadiens games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Playoff coverage includes six of the eight First Round series, three of the four Second Round series, the Conference Finals, and the Stanley Cup Final.

"Premium sports content, such as NHL hockey and Montréal Canadiens games, remains a unique driver for rallying audiences in real time," said Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Quebecor.

"We have had a terrific partnership with TVA Sports for many years, and we look forward to continuing to work together to deliver more NHL games to more French-speaking Quebecers and Canadians," said Tony Staffieri, President and CEO of Rogers.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said the expanded partnership "reflects our shared commitment to serving fans, growing the game, and ensuring that hockey's biggest moments are available to all audiences."

The sublicensing deal follows a separate 12-year national media rights agreement between Rogers and the NHL, covering all platforms in Canada from the 2026-27 through the 2037-38 seasons, which was announced last year.
