Investing.com -- President Donald Trump will hold a meeting with senior executives from major travel companies on Wednesday. The White House confirmed that representatives from American Airlines, Marriott, MGM Resorts, and Carnival will attend.
The tourism sector saw growth this summer following the FIFA World Cup held in the United States. Travel spending increased 6.2% year over year in June, reaching $122.1 billion, marking the strongest monthly figure in a year.
The meeting comes as the industry faces ongoing challenges. International arrivals to the United States dropped 5.5% in 2025. Travel officials attributed the decline to several factors, including extended wait times for visa interviews, stricter immigration policies, tariffs, and travel restrictions imposed on certain countries.
