Dolby Laboratories (NYSE: DLB) announced that Kevin Yeaman is retiring after nearly two decades with the company, and that Marc Whitten has been appointed President, Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors.
The Board conducted a long-term succession process before selecting Whitten. Yeaman will remain as an advisor during the transition period.
Whitten brings more than three decades of experience in consumer electronics, entertainment, artificial intelligence, robotics and mobility. He previously held leadership roles at Meta, Cruise, Unity, Amazon, Sonos and Microsoft, where he was involved in developing products including Alexa, Kindle, Fire TV, Xbox and Xbox Live.
"Marc brings a combination of product vision, technological expertise and proven leadership," said Peter Gotcher, Chairman of the Board of Directors. "He has built and scaled category-defining businesses across industries, led global organizations through periods of transformation and brought together technologies, platforms and partnerships to create enduring growth."
Yeaman commented on his tenure: "Together, we changed the way the world experiences entertainment, broadened the reach of one of the world's most recognizable brands and brought Dolby to billions of people."
Whitten said he believes the company's opportunities lie ahead. "As content, platforms and technologies continue to evolve, Dolby is uniquely positioned to matter even more for creators, partners and consumers," he said.
The announcement was made Aug. 27, 2026, according to a company press release.
