Palladyne AI (NASDAQ: PDYN) and NORDA Dynamics announced a collaboration to integrate Palladyne AI's SwarmOS decentralized autonomy platform with NORDA's Underdog Autonomy Module, a terminal guidance product for unmanned swarm operations.
According to a joint press release, SwarmOS provides distributed, edge-based perception that enables multiple unmanned platforms to detect, classify, assign, and track multiple targets simultaneously. NORDA's Underdog module handles the terminal guidance phase, directing each drone to its assigned target even when communications are jammed or GPS is unavailable.
NORDA Dynamics, founded in 2024 and headquartered in Estonia with operations in Lviv, Ukraine, states its Underdog system has been integrated with dozens of drone manufacturers and tested in tens of thousands of combat engagements in Ukraine. The company's latest terminal guidance version, Underdog 0.8, claims 93% mission effectiveness based on analysis of more than 1,000 combat mission reports. The system is used by more than 200 units within Ukraine's defense forces.
Under the agreement, and subject to any necessary governmental approvals, the companies plan to integrate their technologies onto one or more unmanned platforms and conduct a joint demonstration. The combined system is designed to support counter-unmanned aircraft system operations and multi-target engagement with minimal operator input, while keeping engagement decisions subject to human-on-the-loop oversight.
Ben Wolff, President and CEO of Palladyne AI, said: "SwarmOS turns that proven guidance into a collaborative force — a heterogeneous swarm that finds, tracks and assigns multiple targets at once, then hands each one off for terminal engagement, on its own, without constant communications or a single operator flying every asset."
Nazar Bigun, Co-Founder and CEO of NORDA Dynamics, said: "Proven precision plus proven collaboration — exactly what operators need next."
Palladyne AI is a U.S.-based defense and industrial technology company. The information in this article is based on a joint press release issued by both companies.
